i’ll give it a “really rather good”. not really sure i understand who the target audience is supposed to be, considering the adult themes present, but it’s certainly more satisfying and less derivative than its “spiritural sequel”, which, in spite of del toro’s clear skill with imagery…

middle-period Cronenberg. this is generally hailed as a classic, but i’m not sure i see what all the fuss is about. true, it has great atmosphere, and crazy bitches are always fun, but the kid’s a fucking zombie, and i prayed for her death. meh. should i not have watched it drunk? reel‘s shitty one-line synopsis:
